The number of smartphone users worldwide reached 6.65 billion, in the UK 62.3 million (2021) and projected to increase to over 65 million by 2026. These numbers have transformed the way we communicate and handle the business. Keeping in contact with everyone and everything – customers, staff, suppliers, the latest trade news have become more easier and faster. There are countless business-orientated apps out there and I have pooled together some for you to take a look whether you’re looking to be more productive, save time or simply improve communication. We all know about Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and WhatsApp so let’s move on to some other options.


Slack is like a WhatsApp but for the workplace to keep in touch with your colleagues or clients. Work there happens in channels so the right people can be included and relevant information kept in one place. Its great app to catch up on team projects and easy for a new starter to get up to speed.


World Time Buddy is a popular visual world clock, time zone converter and online meeting scheduler. It overlays with Google calendar and automatically updates time zones for participants.


Hootsuite manages all your social media accounts in one place. It can handle multiple accounts and send messages on multiple platforms at once. Also, you can set up alerts for when someone mentions your company in a tweet, to allow you to respond quickly.


Google analytics lets you monitor how people are discovering you, what content is driving them in your direction and how long they are staying with you.


Clockify enables tracking the time you and your team spend on a project.


Logmein lets you access your desktop from any computer with an internet connection so you can access all your documents as you would on your own PC.


Salesforce Mobile is used to log customer calls, opportunities and leads. You have all your client details to hand if they get in touch when you’re out of the office. App helps to see how well your sales team are doing and it allows to integrate a lot of other solutions in, for example Evernote.


Evernote is good for writing notes, clip text from the web, create plans and to-do lists.


Dragon automatically translates voice memos into text. Dictate documents of any length, edit and adjust formatting. Easy sharing on the most popular cloud-sharing services.


Google drive lets you share files and documents, allowing everyone to work on them at the same time.


Dropbox allows you send or receive a large file when you don’t have a laptop at your disposal. You can store and share files too.


QuickVoice records the meeting or conference session to make sure you don’t forget or miss important information.


Zoom is a great app for phone calls and video conferencing.


Tradify is a job management software where you can create quotes, invoices, track jobs, communicate with the customers and allocate projects to sub-contractors.

It's CIS compliant and easily syncing with Xero, Sage etc.


Checkatrade connects trades businesses with the consumers. Customers can filter their search by a specific trade and postcode, or alternatively, can search for a business or individual’s name to access their contact information to arrange the work. This can be done by calling them directly or requesting a quote through Checkatrade.


Bark is the UK's largest & fastest growing services marketplace, helping people find the right professional for their project. Customers asked detailed questions to find out exactly what they need. If their request matches the services you cover Bark sends you the lead. It matches you with customers based on your location. You can also opt to receive leads from customers who aren't local if you provide a service that can be carried out remotely.


Dynamics 365 automotive accelerator helps quickly build industry vertical solutions reflecting deals, sales contracts, specifications, fleet, warranties, inspection, test drives, branding, business, customer-vehicle relationship, vehicle and equipment, lead, service and after-sales management, and more.
